River Cottage Upholstery

My Journey

River Cottage Upholstery is owned and run by Amanda Luddington, her career started in 1979 as a draughts-woman working for Rolls Royce. Returning to study at Bournemouth Arts Institute and gaining HND in Fine Art.

Continuing her love for form and colour, she then went on to train as a Traditional Upholsterer studying on the  Private Estate of Kingston Lacy in Dorset.

An Idea is Born

Now running a well established upholstery business in a small thatched cottage hamlet, close to the sea in Dorset is a dream come true.

The business has grown from strength to strength, working for clients both local and abroad: from architects, interior designers, private estates furniture designers, and textiles designers, museums, courtrooms and historical buildings.

From one off family treasures to complete manor houses.

Please get in contact if you would like to discuss any projects you have in mind and I’ll do my best to help you.

Traditional honest skills

A majority of my work is traditional upholstery, were a piece of seating is reupholstered from skills taught back from the 18th century.

The tools and techniques have never changed, for which I completely enjoy.
